Pride Parade:

Last weekend I participated in the Pride Parade in Taipei! This day was a happy day filled with over a hundred thousand happy people  🌈 How could you not smile? 🌈 Rainbow flags representing countries all over the world blew through the air. With Taiwan palm trees in the background, I couldn't imagine a more beautiful sight. Being a part of this parade made me feel like I could be anyone I wanted, and I know that everyone here also felt like they had the right to just be themselves. 🌈
🌈
This parade was not just to celebrate equality, but it also was a march for gay marriage. The elections are coming up soon in Taiwan, and we marched though the parade in hopes that people will vote "yes" to gay marriage in Taiwan! Last week, a movie event that I went to handed out pamphlets that clearly show which measures will or will not support LGBTQ rights. I think it is wonderful to see that Taiwan is doing something like this. 🌈

Check out these news reports from NY Times and Taipei Times about the parade!
