Writing Group -

Today I met many new amazing friends who LOVE to write! They were all such an inspiration to me and kept me motivated to keep writing! We wrote together for three hours for National November Writing Month in Taichung! We had writing sprints, themed word crawls, time limits and word count goals. We laughed, shared our ideas, and JUST KEPT WRITINGALL TOGETHER IN TAIWAN to celebrate our writing journey! We are all supporting each other and cheering each other on as we work towards our 50,000 word writing goal!

Air Pollution-

The air has been very polluted in Taiwan recently. Let's all take good care of ourselves and stay healthy! The air may be polluted, but I'm keeping things positive! You may not be able to see my smile, but my eyes are smiling.

Lukang Old Steet

Lukang Old Steet was the most memorable part of my Lukang trip! It was just like time traveling into the past. The streets were filled with ancient temples, brick buildings, old fashioned street vendors and flee markets, and alleyways that were built so close together to protect themselves from pirates!

Lukang Folk Arts Museum

I went to the Lukang Folk Arts Museum from 1919! Everything in the house was still in tact and my friend and I would love to live there! It was so beautiful and serene! Everything was open to the public, and since there were only a couple of people there, it really did feel like our own mansion!

I went to the Lukang Glass Museum and Glass Temple with my friend from Changhua! This was one of the nicest museums I have ever been to! I had such a fun adventure!

Pride Parade:

Last weekend I participated in the Pride Parade in Taipei! This day was a happy day filled with over a hundred thousand happy people  🌈 How could you not smile? 🌈 Rainbow flags representing countries all over the world blew through the air. With Taiwan palm trees in the background, I couldn't imagine a more beautiful sight. Being a part of this parade made me feel like I could be anyone I wanted, and I know that everyone here also felt like they had the right to just be themselves. 🌈
🌈
This parade was not just to celebrate equality, but it also was a march for gay marriage. The elections are coming up soon in Taiwan, and we marched though the parade in hopes that people will vote "yes" to gay marriage in Taiwan! Last week, a movie event that I went to handed out pamphlets that clearly show which measures will or will not support LGBTQ rights. I think it is wonderful to see that Taiwan is doing something like this. 🌈

Check out these news reports from NY Times and Taipei Times about the parade!
